Trio who stole mobiles to lead lavish lifestyle

Three bike-borne youngsters who snatched mobile phones from passersby to fund their lavish lifestyle ended in police custody after they caught following a tip-off. The cops have seized 18 mobile phones worth Rs 1.2 lakh from the 20-year-olds and a pulsar bike. So far, they have confessed to having carried out 25 crimes registered in various police stations in the city. According to Crime Branch sources, the trio was nabbed from SG Highway after a confirmed tip-off. They were identified as as Milan Girishbhai Patel (20) who lives at Dev Exotica, Ghuma; Biren Shaileshbhai Parmar (20) from Vankarvas in Ghuma and Hitesh Laljibhai Patel (20) of Shyamvrund Tenament in Bopal.

Crime Branch ACP B V Gohil said, “The boys belong to middle class families and have been snatching mobiles for the past 8 months. They would snatch cellphones and sell it locally. The trio shared the money from the spoils. More details are awaited following their questioning.”

The cases have been registered at Sola High Court, Sarkhej and Vastrapur police stations. They have been found involved in cases near Thaltej and Sola areas where they have snatched seven mobile phones from different victims.

They would sometime go on triple ride or sometime two would go on a bike and snatch phones from unsuspecting victims. The cops are identifying what other crimes they would have committed or if they were involved in any other cases. Gohil added that the accused idled away their time and did not do anything for a living. The money they got from selling the phones they would spend on having fun and a lavish lifestyle. Their family was unaware of their crimes.
