Mother of suspect, 19-year-old accused of being accessories in murder case

SPRING LAKE – Two women were arrested Tuesday in connection with a November murder, and a third person is still being sought, a Spring Lake Police Department news release said Wednesday.

Marisha Britton, 42, and Jameshia Walker, 19, are charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder in the death of Devonte Sequan Tart, the release said. His body was found Nov. 5 behind a vacant apartment complex at 1302 King St. in Spring Lake. Britton is the mother of an 18-year-old accused of killing Tart, identified by Spring Lake police as Devante Shamar Watson. Fayetteville police have identified him as Devante Shamar Britton-Watson.

Marisha Britton and Walker were jailed. Bail was set at $210,000 for Britton and $200,000 for Walker.

Glenn “Unique” Warren, 31, of the 5700 block of Five Sisters Court, has also been charged in Tart’s murder, police said. Officers searching for Warren said he is considered armed and dangerous.

On Tuesday, U.S. marshals and Fayetteville police arrested Devante Shamar Watson and charged him with first-degree murder in the death of Tart. He’s also charged in another shooting and several other crimes, police said.
