Celebrity fashion collaborations are a dime a dozen these days, but you won’t catch Ashley Benson slapping her name on just any collection.
“I want my fans to feel like they’re not only getting their hands on an amazing product, but that they’re also getting something that’s special to me on a personal level,” the 29-year-old “Pretty Little Liars” star told Page Six Style.
That’s why for her first capsule of sunglasses for Privé Revaux, Benson named each of the three styles she designed after “something personal.”
The narrow “Olive” cat-eye honors her dog, the futuristic, shield-style “Planco” pays tribute to her best friend and the classic rectangular “Victoria”nods to the star’s own middle name. (Is a “Cara”style too much to hope for for next season?)
“I’m really into the ‘casual cool girl’ vibe,” Benson explained. “I wanted my collection to reflect that while also having a certain edge. The collection is meant to be super versatile, for the person who lives in jeans and a T-shirt but will throw on a sick leather jacket and some heels for a night out.”
And in keeping with the eyewear brand’s accessible price point, each style in the trend-focused Privé Revaux x Benzo capsule retails for $39.95. “I think that splurge items should always be something that you can rock for more than just a season,” the star explained of her shopping approach.
“For example, a killer handbag, a great leather jacket — those are all things I’d consider splurge-worthy. For things like basics, that’s where I typically go for less expensive pieces. And sunglasses, of course!”
As for where Benson stands on the great “tiny sunglasses vs. oversized shades”debate?
“I’ve been loving the shield styles popping up recently,” the actress admitted. “For me, though, the tiny styles aren’t going anywhere.”
